On October 19-22, 2003, a cross-border workshop for Ukrainian, Polish and Slovak journalists took place in Krasiczyn, Lublin and Mukachevo. Aimed at confronting the existing stereotypes of border guards and refugees as well as the exchange of professional experience, the workshop involved the participants in group work.

The organizers also hope for a tangible outcome of the workshop - stories, reports, interviews, photographs etc. appearing in Polish, Ukrainian and Slovak media. The participants met with representatives of non-governmental organizations, border guards, city of Przemysl authorities, refugees, and refugee center administrators.

The workshop was organized by the Bridges to the East Program, a collaboration among the United States Consulate General in Krakow, Christian Culture Foundation Znak, Villa Decius Association and Ukraine Consulate General in Krakow. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Warsaw Office, co-organized the event.
