U.S. Consulate Hosts Videoconference with Nobel Physics Prize Winner

Prof. Frank Wilczek, winner of the 2004 Nobel Prize for Physics spoke to around 40 students and professors (including the President of Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences) from the Jagiellonian University, the Polish Technology University and Physics students from a local high school in a videoconference on February 28, 2005.

Over 90 minutes MIT’s Wilczek (who is of Polish ancestry) first gave an exciting presentation entitled "Can we live up to our Possibilities?", followed by a Q&A session with the audience and press. The U.S. Consul General in Krakow Kenneth Fairfax moderated the conference.

Prof. Wilczek’s comments and achievements highlighted the strengths of the U.S. public and university education system. He underlined that he owes his academic success to the education he got from American public schools in New York and Chicago.
