Robert Blacker and Philip Himberg

As part of a series of workshops organized in tandem with the production of the Pulitzer Prize winning play "I Am My Own Wife" at the Stary Theatre in Krakow, Philip Himberg, Producing Artistic Director of the Sundance Theater Program and Prof. Robert Blacker, Head of Playwriting, Yale Drama School held a discussion with American Studies students at the Jagiellonian University on April 15, 2005.

At the event, arranged by the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow, Himberg and Blacker gave students an overview over present trends in American theater and explained the work of Sundance in nurturing and developing new and established American plays and playwrights, including Doug Wright and his work “I Am My Own Wife”. They also highlighted the links and mutual interests between contemporary American and Polish theater.
