 | Anne Hall and Mieczysław Bigos with the stained glass piece
|
Father and son stained glass artisans Mieczysław Bigos and Dariusz Bigos, both from the Biprodew Company in Katowice, designed and created a stained glass piece depicting the twin towers in New York on September 11th. They were moved to create the piece, they said, out of a feeling of solidarity with the American people after September 11th, and thought the 5th anniversary of the attacks would be an appropriate time to present their gift to the US Consulate General in Krakow. Consul General Anne Hall accepted the artwork on behalf of the consulate, noting how special it was to be in Poland on such a day to receive this gift.
Locals Remember September 11th
After the opening of business, flowers and candles in the shape of a cross appeared on the doorstep on the U.S. Consulate in Krakow. All day, passersby stopped to say prayers and light additional candles as a private remembrance of the September 11th attacks.
