The U.S. Consulate-General in Krakow, as part of its July 4th festivities, sponsored a night of American music performed by the Sinfonietta Cracovia under the direction of John Neal Axlerod on June 25. The show featured American poet Edward Hirsch providing narration to Aaron Copeland’s acclaimed piece “Lincoln Portrait”. The program also included Charles Ives' Variations on America, Samuel Barber's Medea's Meditation and Dance of Vengeance, and Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story Suite.
