The U.S. Consulate General in Krakow is providing important financial support to the Nai Ni Chen Dance Company’s for its community outreach, educational and performance tour in Poland June 29–July 26, 2005. A large portion of the funds come from a generous grant from the U.S. Department of State’s Performing Arts Initiative program.

Nai Ni Chen’s program is close to one month long and includes nine cities: Bobrek, Bytom, Krakow, Lublin, Poznan, Ruda Slaska, Szczecinek, Tczew, and Warsaw. Two cities, Szecinek and Tczew, are a part of the U.S. Embassy produced American Days programming and include workshops. The other seven cities have at least a full day workshop and a lecture of the elements of contemporary dance prior to the performance.

Three of the major Polish centers of contemporary dance in Bytom, Lublin and Krakow are organizing in-depth multi-day residency activities that include successive workshops along with outreach into the outlying areas. Nai Ni Chen will be participating in Bytom’s internationally renowned XII Annual International Contemporary Dance Conference and Performance Festival.
