Representative Edward Murray interviewed by TVP Krakow at MISTIA
|
Representative Edward Murray, Chairman of the House Transportation, Budget and Policy Committee from the state of Washington, was invited to Poland as part of a State Department-sponsored program to discuss how policy-makers can more effectively handle transportation and other large-scale infrastructure projects. Mr. Murray met with city and regional officials in Katowice at the Marshal of Silesia’s Office and presented Washington’s experience in funding several large infrastructure projects, including a bridge and public housing project, through public-private partnerships. Representative Murray also candidly spoke about challenges common to both the US and Poland, such as streamlining bureaucracy and convincing the public to pay for transportation, but stressed that transportation improvements are essential to attract and keep major companies in a region. While in the Silesia Region, Representative Murray also participated in a conference on public-private partnerships in Krakow at the Malapolska Institute for Local Government (Mistia) and met with representatives from local business.
