On September 6, Anne Hall, Consul General in Krakow, visited the Comprehensive High School (Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących and Ponadgimnazjalnych) in Ruda Śląska, which was named in honor of US President Herbert Hoover. His extraordinary humanitarian actions after World War I saved millions of Polish people, especially children, from disease and starvation. President Hoover also provided assistance to Poland and other countries in East Central Europe after World War II, organizing the United Nation Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) transports. He became a true symbol of Polish -American friendship. |
