Consul General Kenneth Fairfax and Professor Krzysztof Michalek

On December 9-11, 2005, the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora at the Jagiellonian University, with the support of the U.S. Consulate General, held a conference on "American Democracy in 21st Century." The event brought together some 50 academics and students from all over Poland.

The proceedings were organized into six panels focusing on: the political institutions of the American democracy; the American society; freedom as an element of democracy; cultural aspects of the American democracy; directions of the development of democracy in the United States; and the impact of American democracy on social and political changes in Poland.
