On November 17th, the American Corner in Wrocław organized lectures and exhibits as a part of a comic book festival that took place in Wroclaw on November 17-24. The event started with an introduction by Andrzej Jarczewski, the main organizer of the festival which was followed by three lectures: “Graphic Novels: Something for Everyone” by Information Regional Officer from U.S. Embassy Laura Kaspari Hohmann; “The Death and Re-Birth of Comic Books” by Christian Dumais and “From the First Sketch to Publication” by Marek Rudowski. The lectures were followed by a lively discussion on the process of creation, the future of comic books and the influence of a computer on comic books’ esthetics. Two exhibits accompanied the lectures: “Through My Comic Eyes”, that presented the process of creation, and “Superman 1936-2006”, that showed the development of the covers of the Superman comic book series.
