Vice President Cheney has arrived in Krakow to lead the United States delegation to Poland for the 60th commemoration of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps.

In addition to attending the official commemoration ceremonies on January 27, Vice President Cheney, accompanied by Mrs. Cheney, is participating in an event honoring survivors of the Holocaust who are now American citizens, delivering remarks to an international forum, and touring Auschwitz.

The Vice President's agenda includes bilateral meetings with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, Polish Prime Minister Marek Belka, and Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko.

A Congressional delegation is accompanying the Vice President on his visit. The members include Steve Israel (Democrat from New York), Thaddeus McCotter (Republican from Michigan) and Shelley Berkley (Democrat from Nevada).
