On June 7 Ambassador Victor Ashe opened the American Corner in Wrocław at the Provincial and City Public Library. The Corner, with a gorgeous view overlooking the main square, is the second one of its kind in Poland. The Ambassador shared the ribbon-cutting with Marshal of the Lower Silesia Province, Paweł Wróblewski and the event was covered by local media. The Ambassador gave interviews to TVP 3 Wrocław, daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza and radio network TOK FM about the concept and importance of American Corners and the U.S. presence in Wrocław and Lower Silesia. He also opened two exhibits associated with the opening, “American West” featuring the beauty of American nature and “Ah! America”, which compares postcards of landmarks photographed in 1920s and 30s with their present appearance. In Poland there are now two American Corners located in Łódz and Wrocław. |
