An outstanding American poet from New York, Yusef Komunyakaa, visited Poland June 4-10. During three poetry readings in Wrocław, Krakow and Częstochowa the poet read a selection of his poems, which were also presented in their Polish translation. Poetry lovers who came to the poetry evenings showed interest in the background of his writing and the connection between his life and his poems. Yusef Komunyakaa is the author of 14 poetry collections, among them "Neon Vernacular", which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1993.
