U.S. State Department Expresses Gratitude for Poles’ Service in Iraq

U.S. Department of State spokesman Sean McCormack praised “the sacrifices Poland and the Polish military have made in Iraq” during a September 21 press conference in Washington, DC. “We all honor their service. We’re grateful for their service. They were there at the very beginning. And we’re quite proud of the work that they have done there and the sacrifices that they have made.” The U.S. Embassy also recently recognized Poles’ service in Iraq and Afghanistan by joining allies in a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw, honoring veterans with a reception and medal ceremony, and releasing a statement of thanks by U.S. Ambassador Victor Ashe.
