From July 11-13, seventeen U.S. graduate students in the sciences and engineering met in Krakow to share the results of their scientific research in various Central European countries over a seven-week period as part of the Central Europe Summer Research Institute (CESRI), a program supported by the National Science Foundation.  Political/Economic Officer Michelle Riebeling joined the students on July 11 to learn more about their research and experiences in Poland and other countries in Central Europe.

CESRI provides U.S. graduate students in the sciences and engineering with a high-quality research experience in Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic.  The 8-week program is for students already engaged in research activities in their home campuses.  The main objectives of CESRI are to provide outstanding U.S. graduate students in the sciences and engineering with a global perspective on scientific research, and encourage research collaboration between U.S. students, their home institutions and counterpart institutions in Central Europe.
