Galicja Jewish Museum in Kazimierz (ul. Dajwor 18) has three new exhibitions on display throughout the summer. One of the exhibitions is entitled, Letters to Sala, a Young Woman’s Life in Nazi Labor Camps, which is a compelling collection of rare Holocaust-era letters and photographs from the archives of the New York Public Library, all saved at great personal risk by Sala Garncarz during her imprisonment from 1940 until her liberation in 1945. The collection provides a remarkable first-hand view of the human drama that unfolded among Jewish victims forced to work in Nazi labor camps and is curated by Jill Vexler. Another exhibition, Fighting For Dignity: Jewish Resistance in Krakow, is an innovative and challenging new exhibition created by the Galicia Jewish Museum and curated by Jakub Nowakowski. The exhibition offers a stimulating and poignant portrayal of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust, both armed and non-armed, confronting head-on the cultural, religious, and moral dilemmas faced by the Jewish community between 1939 and 1945. The third exhibition is Poland:Personally: Private Reflections on a Holocaust Study Tour. Direct from Pittsburgh, USA, the exhibition is a photographic exploration of the diverse personal experiences of five teenagers and five adults on a 2006 study tour to Poland, accompanied by Holocaust survivor Bob Mendler. Creative Director: Dror Yaron, Educational Director: Dr. Zipora Gur, of the Agency for Jewish Learning.
