Ruth Tanner, Executive Director of the Tennessee Holocaust Commission, conducted a seminar focused on teaching the Holocaust in both formal and informal educational settings on Thursday June 19 at 5pm. Over the past year an exhibition called "Living On" from the Tennessee Holocaust Commission has been traveling around Poland. "Living On" features photographs of survivors and liberators along with their stories. The seminar featured the "Living On" website as a teaching tool in the classroom. It focused on teaching history through personal accounts, geography, writing and hands-on art activities. These methods aim to help students create personal linkages between Holocaust survivors, concentration camp liberators and others who had first-person experiences in Europe during and at the end of the Second World War.
