Speaking on behalf of President Bush and the American people, U.S. Ambassador Victor Ashe expressed condolences following the tragic crash of a Polish Air Force transport aircraft Wednesday evening, January 23:  “I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the families and friends of the soldiers lost in yesterday’s air crash in Miroslawiec.  We hold in strong regard the steadfast courage and commitment of Poland’s armed services, and will honor these heroes who died in the line of duty.  As always, the United States stands with Poland in the pursuit of freedom and justice.  These soldiers dedicated their lives to that pursuit, and we will always be grateful for their sacrifice.”
