On Thursday, July 30, an audience of 100 gathered in the National Museum multimedia room for a film showing organized by the US Consulate General. The film was shown within the framework of an educational program accompanying the "American Dream" exhibit and allowed Polish art students and the general public to get a more in-depth knowledge of Edward Hopper (1882-1967), one of the best known and most admired of American artists who created iconic images of American life. The film, directed by Carroll Moore, was a unique opportunity to see Hopper's best paintings, the locations that were the subjects of his paintings as well as some archival photos of the artist and his wife. The documentary included interviews with artists and academics who traced the varied influences and motives behind Hopper's art. Viewing the film was a great way to get better acquainted with the artist who is so conspicuously represented at the exhibit with an installation of his "Nighthawks" painting.
