Consulate Participates in 30th Anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s Reign

October 16, 1978 was the beginning of Pope John Paul II’s papacy.  Krakow hosted a series of events October 11-12 hosted by Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz marking the 30th anniversary of Cardinal Karol Wojtyla’s election as Pope and the 50th anniversary of his appointment as auxiliary bishop. Consul General Anne Hall signed a memory book at the Bishops’ Palace in Krakow on Saturday October 11.  On Sunday, October 12, she attended a morning mass at the Laqiewniki Basilica and evensong at Wawel Castle in honor of Pope John Paul II.  Other events in Krakow in honor of Pope John Paul II included an art exhibition at Krzysztofory palace and an exhibition of Pope John Paul II portraits at the Archdiocese Museum on Kanonicza Street.
