Susan Parker-Burns, Consul for Press and Culture at the US Consulate in Krakow and Vaughn Baker, Director of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado participated in a tree-planting ceremony to celebrate Earth Day on Friday April 18.  The event was organized by the Polish Environment Partnership Foundation and Krakow City Hall to expand what is known as the Krakow-Moravia-Vienna Greenway.  The green way concept began in the US as a way to give people greater access to green space through the creation of bicycle trails and a connected network of parks. Most US states now have a greenways program and there are greenway projects throughout Europe.  Children from local schools helped to plant the trees at Friday’s ceremony, which expands the Krakow area of the greenway project. For more information on greenways, please see the Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation web site at www.epce.org.pl
