Consul General Anne Hall spoke at the opening of Lane Kirkland Program, held in Jagiellonian University’s Collegium Maius on September 18.  She welcomed 43 participants from Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia and Kazakhstan and congratulated them on taking part in the program.  Each year Poland hosts the Lane-Kirkland scholarship program for 40-50 participants from Central and Eastern Europe, funded by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation and administered by the Fulbright Commission in Warsaw.  The purpose of the program is to share Polish experiences in its economic, social and political transformation in a two-semester supplementary study program and two to four week professional internships in governmental and private institutions.  Upon completion of the program, the participants are expected to share their knowledge and experience by working for the development of democracy in their home countries.
