Consul General Anne Hall welcomed Ambassador Victor Ashe and 15 future American military leaders from the West Point Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at a reception in her home Thursday, June 4. Officers from Poland's Special Operations Forces and Sixth Parachute Brigade also joined in the reception. The cadets are currently in Poland as part of a summer program dedicated to the study of the Holocaust and prevention of genocide. The program, organized by the Auschwitz Jewish Center in Oświęcim and sponsored by the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York, brings the cadets to New York and Washington D.C. before their stay in Poland. While in Poland the cadets will visit the former Nazi death camps of Auschwitz and Bełżec and see historic Jewish sites in Poland, along with lectures at the Institute of Jewish Studies at Jagiellonian University and meetings with Holocaust survivors. The cadets will also study Polish history and culture, with a trip to southeastern Poland, including Łańcut and Jarosław. After completing the program, the cadets are expected to share their experiences with fellow cadets and peers in the Academies.
