Annual March Marking Liquidation of Krakow Ghetto

On Sunday, March 15 the Consul General joined in the annual march commemorating the anniversary of the final liquidation of the Krakow ghetto.  The Krakow Ghetto was one of the five main ghettos created by Nazi Germany during its occupation of Poland in WWII.  On March 13-14, 1943, the Nazis carried out the final liquidation of the ghetto, massacring some 2,000 Polish Jews in the streets, sending 8,000 to the Plaszow labor camp near Krakow, and many others to the Nazi extermination camp Auschwitz.
