Consul General Anne Hall welcomed future American military leaders from the West Point Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at a reception in her home Monday June 9. The cadets are currently in Poland as part of a summer program dedicated to the study of the Holocaust. The program, organized by the Auschwitz Jewish Center in Oświęcim, brings the cadets to New York and Washington D.C. before their stay in Poland. While in Poland the cadets will visit Warsaw, Krakow and Łódź. They will also tour the former Nazi death camps of Auschwitz and Bełżec and see historic Jewish sites in Poland. During their stay the cadets also have lectures from noted historians in the Institute of Jewish Studies at Jagiellonian University and have the opportunity to meet with Holocaust survivors. After completing the program, the cadets are expected to share their experiences with fellow cadets and peers in the Academies.
