Ambassador Victor Ashe talks with Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum Director Piotr Cywiński

Ambassador Victor Ashe Visits Southern Poland

U.S. Ambassador Victor Ashe met with Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum Director Piotr Cywiński and toured the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial during his March 18-20 trip to the region.  Ambassador Ashe learned more about the financial difficulties experienced by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and the launch of the Perpetual Fund to help establish a sustainable financing scheme for much-needed renovations.  The Ambassador, who has visited the Memorial on several occasions, deepened his knowledge even further during a guided tour March 19. Ambassador Ashe also visited Wieliczka where he met with local authorities. He toured the town center with Artur Kozioł, the Mayor of Wieliczka, and with Jacek Juszkiewicz, head of Wieliczka County.
