U.S. Ambassador Victor Ashe travelled through Lower Silesia Province on May 18. He met the mayors of Kąty Wrocławskie, Środa Śląska and Prochowice. Ambassador Ashe learned more about the impact of the financial crisis on local economies, especially on unemployment in the region. In spite of the crisis, all three towns are very active in the application process for EU funds, which they want to spend on infrastructure upgrades or on renovations of their medieval town centers. In Wrocław, the Ambassador toured Galeria Rewolucja and met with its owners. He also visited the workshop of Małgorzata Korenkiewicz, who paints on silk, and her husband - Boguslaw Zen, whose specialty is ice and sand sculpture. (photo gallery)
