U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe and Consul Stephen Barneby of the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow joined thousands of students from around the world in the annual March of the Living on May 1 at the former Nazi death camp Auschwitz.  U.S. Ambassador to Hungary April Foley and Naval Commander Tom Williamson also took part in the event.  The March of the Living, which is also known as The March of Remembrance and Hope, is held each year to honor and remember the victims of the Holocaust.  Participants march silently the three-kilometer distance separating the Nazi death camps of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, located in southern Poland. This was the  seventeenth March of the Living.
