On April 19, 2005, the U.S. Consulate General in Krakow helped sponsor a lecture by Prof. Diana Agrest as part of the series "What is Architecture?" at the Manggha Center for Japanese Art and Technology in Krakow.
Prof. Agrest is an internationally renowned architect and one of the most important "voices" in the practice and theory of modern architecture. In her presentation, titled "Architecture in the Expanded Field", she presented her thoughts and ideas on relations between film and the city, architecture in the cultural perspective, and reflections on architecture's limitations to a group of some 250 architecture students and professionals.
Ms. Agrest is a principal of the New York firm Agrest and Gandelsonas Architects, and is also a professor of architecture at the Cooper Union University in New York City.
